THE WOODLANDS, TX - Wednesday, May 22, 2013 - Planning is underway for The Woodlands Waterway Arts Festival 2011, set for Saturday, April 9 from 10 am - 7 pm and Sunday, April 10, 2011 from 10 am - 6 pm along The Woodlands Waterway® and in Town Green Park in The Woodlands Town Center.
This juried art show featuring 200 international, national and regional fine artists will be celebrating its sixth year, and has now become an annual tradition in The Woodlands. The Planning Committee, comprised of local artists, teachers, art enthusiasts and marketing professionals, is under the direction of Jenny Wright, recently appointed festival director. The festival is presented by The Woodlands Waterway Arts Council, Inc., a 501 (c) 3 organization.
"We are thrilled to have Jenny Wright on board as our new festival director," said David Gottlieb, chairman of the board of The Woodlands Waterway Arts Council. "She has already introduced ideas and plans that will take the Festival to even greater accomplishments."

More than 15,000 people attended last year’s festival. The Woodlands Waterway Arts Festival features art in diverse mediums including painting, watercolor, clay, metal, sculpture, woodworking, mixed media, jewelry and photography. "The spectrum of art and fine craftwork displayed at The Woodlands Waterway Arts Festival appeals to a wide range of tastes and budgets," said Wright.
Patrons enjoy performing arts and live entertainment throughout the festival weekend. Student Art is also juried and displayed at the festival, with prizes awarded at a special presentation. Another highlight is Artopoly!, an interactive family area for kids of all ages.
The pre-festival VIP Art Dash event, set for April 8, 2011 at The Woodlands Waterway Marriott Hotel & Convention Center, has become one of the most popular attractions during the festival weekend.
The Woodlands Waterway Arts Festival is ranked number 68 out of 564 festivals nationwide by the internationally published ArtFair Source Book in the Fine Art and Fine Craft category, as well as a distinguished "A" grade in the venue environment category.
