Early Inspiration Gallery
The Future of Art Begins Here
THE WOODLANDS, TX - Friday, April 6, 2012 - This year at the 2012 Woodlands Waterway Art Festival, April 14 and 15, a brand new attraction for children will unveil and hopefully plant seeds of appreciation in the fertile minds of future art lovers.
WWAF director Jenny Wright found this program at several other art fairs around the country and brought the idea back to the Student Art Scholarship Program committee, and states “A big concern of many artists is how do we teach the next generation about art? Especially with all the visual images—both good and bad—on the Internet, and with school districts cutting art budgets, how will the next generation appreciate art and recognize its importance? So when I heard about the Children’s Gallery at the Columbus Art Festival, I thought WOW! This is where it needs to start!”
Early Inspiration Gallery will be open during regular WWAF hours in a large white tent next to Artopoly, the children’s art area. EI Gallery will be selling pieces of artwork to children only. For $5, children between the ages of 4 and 13 will be able to come into the tent, look and browse all the artwork and buy a piece that they really like. With that first purchase, Wright and her EI committee hope the child will be ready to buy another piece of work at the 2013 WWAF, thus beginning a lifetime of collecting art.
The artwork offered for sale will largely consist of donations from high school students in the Montgomery County area. These students, all accomplished artists themselves, entered artwork in the Student Art Scholarship Program competition, which was held March 22-24. The artwork from the scholarship winners and those invited to show are on exhibit at WWAF in the tent next to the EI Gallery. Come and see the Future of Art!
